EXPOSING HYPOCRISY THROUGH EXAMPLE

Okay this is a good one, but it requires some scientific background. (With citations!)

There's a lot of unhealthy chemicals in your typical store-bought cosmetics and beauty products. The artificial colours found in make-up can worsen the symptoms of eczema and asthma, and have been shown to cause severe headaches, blurred vision and itchy/watery eyes and nose (Antczak, 2001). The preservatives in many cosmetics can cause gastric irritation, numbing of the mouth and aggravate asthma (Antczak, 2001). The common ingredients DEA, MEA, and TEA can cause allergic reactions, irritation to eyes and dry out hair and skin (Fairley, 2001). The formaldehydes found in almost everything can cause skin reactions (American Academy of Dermatology: Fairley, 2001) and weaken the immune system. Common fragrances can cause dizziniess and skin irritation (Fairley, 2001).

I can go on... the point is that virtually every commercial product (deodorant/anti-perspirant, shampoo, toothpaste, make-up, soap) you use on your body weakens your immune system and causes a variety of chronic ailments. Luckily, most of those symptoms can be treated by over-the-counter pharmaceuticals. And it just so happens that those pharmaceutical products are usually manufactured by the same corporations that produce the bath & beauty products that poisoned you in the first place! Doesn't that work out well?!
